Large Victorian Antique writing slope -Approx: 19.5" (50cm) x 9.75"(25cm) x 6.75 (17cm) tall - 2 glass inkwells, working lock & key - 3 x'Secret Drawers' - Brass inlay & Brass corner protectors & brass strap bands. In Lovely Burr Walnut Finish. Nlaid Brass Centre Cartouche & surround. Similar inlaid Brass Key Escutcheon Brass Bands, Brass corner protectors & Brass corner straps.

Two Glass Inkwells with brass screw tops. Brass Double-Catch'Brahmer' type Lock with working key Included is a very worn Victorian 1 penny piece dated 1876. Large Solid Mahogany writing box with beautiful Walnut veneer. X 9½ x 6 ¾ High when closed. Inlaid Brass Centre Cartouche (engraved) & similar Inlaid Brass Key Escutcheon(Both with ebonised wood infill). The lid closes square and true on heavy duty original brass hinges. Brass Double-catch'BRAHMER' style lock for strength and security with working key. The green felt slope surface (Skiver) is in Good condition and has 2 lifting ribbons. Each of the two compartments under the slope are accessed by raising the halved surfaces using the attached ribbon tags. The office section comprises; Two inkwell sections complete with glass ink pots with brass screw lids (Not original, but fine period reproductions), One 3¼" x 2" Compartment with lid & ivorine handle, One stamp compartment, a dished solid wood pen tray compartment with additional pen storage space under. The secret drawers are accessed by gripping the far left dider and lifting upwards. This will release the spring loaded front fascia in front of the office section - revealing the three solid mahogany drawers - each with a turned ivorine handle. The opposite half of the skiver is held in place by two sliding catches (both have been repaired at some time to ensure that they operate). The underside of this half has a criss-cross ribbon to hold paperwork. The underside of the box is covered in a green felt baize material to prevent it from scratching surfaces. As with any item that is over 140 yrs old, there are bound to be minor anomolies, dinks, scratches, shrinkage cracks etc. But these would be mainly superficial and commensurate with the age of the item. Please study all the photos as these form a large part of the item description. This is a Substantial piece of fine'Eye-Catching' Mid Victorian Furniture in Very Nice Condition - weighing in at around 4.3kg!
