This is part of a suite, the full set includes a stunning dressing table, pair of side table cupboards with single drawer and a double bank wardrobe, all other pieces are listed under my other items. Collinge's store opened in c1875 at 110 St.James's Street, on the corner of Hammerton Street. The upper floors of the building were Collinge's showrooms, but the ground floor was divided between a number of other shops and trades people. Collinge and Company Limited, were a cabinet makers, upholsterers, house furnishers and decorators. The family also owned a store in St. The store closed in c1926. This is a very good looking piece of furniture, it has a nice large single drawer with campaign handle, a side small cupboard with sliding top, sliding shirt shelves, sliding rails in the top. In terms of condition it is totally solid and stable, the walnut has a wonderful period patina. There are some chips around the top edges and general small marks from genuine age and honest use. The top section has been amended at some point, its been cut down for some reason. It removes and I personally think it looks better without it. We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom. The whole wardrobe can be dismantled, you would have the top and bottom, two large cupboard and a central beam of wood.
As you can see the wardrobe sits on wheels, they can be removed should the new owner wish. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
