BEAUTIFULLY FIGURED VICTORIAN LADIES VANITY/JEWELLERY BOX WITH DRAWER c. 1865 This is quite a large yet beautifully proportioned vanity box dating from the mid 19th century. Please see the attached photos, which are an integral part of the description, but which simply don't do justice to the this lovely item. Externally, the case is in very good condition and shows an attractive deep colour and figuring. There is an inset mother of pearl cartouche to the top with matching escutcheon to the front.Internally, there is an arrangement of bottles and containers, each with glass or silver plated lids. The various pieces are in good condition, with only the usual signs of wear for an item of this age. The interior of the lid is lined with classic Victorian deep blue ruched velvet behind which is a folder for personal correspondence or papers. When lifted, a brass pin releases a sprung drawer to the side which is for jewellery items. This drawer is lined and padded in blue silk.
Overall, a beautiful vanity/jewellery box which is over 150 years old and in very good condition. A very desirable antique item.
